Texture and Trace Element Composition of Rutile in Orogenic Gold Deposits

چکیده
Abstract Rutile from a wide range of orogenic gold deposits and districts, including representative world-class deposits, was investigated for its texture trace element composition using scanning electron microscopy, probe microanalysis, laser ablation-inductively coupled plasma-mass spectrometry. Deposits are hosted in various country rocks felsic to ultramafic igneous sedimentary rocks, which were metamorphosed lower greenschist middle amphibolite facies with ages mineralization that Archean Phanerozoic. presents size, texture, chemical zoning. is the dominant TiO2 polymorph mineralization. Elemental plots partial least square-discriminant analysis suggest exerts strong control on concentrations V, Nb, Ta, Cr rutile, whereas metamorphic controls Zr, Sc, U, rare earth elements, Y, Ca, Th, Ba rutile. The rutile can be distinguished other deposit types geologic settings. ratios Nb/V, Nb/Sb, Sn/V differentiate compared those settings environments. A binary plot Nb/V vs. W enables distinction metamorphic-hydrothermal hydrothermal magmatic-hydrothermal magmatic Nb/Sb distinguishes Results used establish geochemical criteria constrain source indicator mineral surveys potentially guide exploration.

Orogenic gold deposits: A proposed classification in the context of their crustal distribution and relationship to other gold deposit types
The so-called ‘mesothermal’ gold deposits are associated with regionally metamorphosed terranes of all ages. Ores were formed during compressional to transpressional deformation processes at convergent plate margins in accretionary and collisional orogens. In both types of orogen, hydrated marine sedimentary and volcanic rocks have been added to continental margins during tens to some 100 milli...
متن کاملA black shale protolith for gold-tellurium mineralisation in the Dalradian Supergroup (Neoproterozoic) of Britain and Ireland
The Dalradian Supergroup of Britain and Ireland is mineralised by gold-tellurium vein deposits. The host succession includes carbonaceous, pyritic shales (pelites) which were a source of trace elements, including gold and tellurium. LA-ICP-MS mapping of pyrite crystals shows that late stages are enriched in gold, tellurium and lead, representing concentration of these elements during metamorphi...
متن کاملElement-specific Kikuchi patterns of Rutile.
The kinetic energy of keV electrons backscattered from a rutile (TiO2) surface depends measurably on the mass of the scattering atom. This makes it possible to determine separately the angular distribution of electrons backscattered elastically from either Ti or O. Diffraction effects of these backscattered electrons inside the rutile crystal lead to the formation of Kikuchi patterns. The eleme...
متن کاملThe influence of a slow-release multi-trace element ruminal bolus on trace element status, number of ovarian follicles and pregnancy outcomes in synchronized Afshari ewes
Published data on the effects of ruminal bolus on the number of ovulatory follicles in ewes does not exist. The present study determined the effects of a ruminal bolus on trace element status, follicular dynamics and reproductive performance in ewes. Eighty Afshari cycling ewes were synchronized during breeding season using CIDR for 14 days and assigned to 4 groups (n=20); group 1 received a si...
متن کاملBio-accumulation of major, trace, and rare earth elements by two Astragalus species grown on Agh-Dareh and Zarshouran gold deposits, Takab, NW Iran
The Agh-Dareh and Zarshouran mines are two known active gold deposits in Takab, NW Iran. In the present study, the potentials of two species of Astragalus (A. microcephalus from Agh-Dareh and A. effusus from Zarshouran mines), as the dominant plants grown in these areas, were assessed for the bio-accumulation of the major, trace, and rare earth elements (REEs). The plant and soil samples were c...
